Who We Are
CARCHEX began in 2001 as a national provider of mobile pre-purchase vehicle inspections. In 2003, Jason Goldsmith, who is the current CEO of CARCHEX was looking for a 1996 Jaguar XJS convertible. Jason had always loved that particular Jaguar but wanted to be careful to pick the right car, in the right condition, at the right price. He found what he believed was the perfect car listed on eBay by a car dealership in Portland, Oregon.
However, Jason was skeptical about the seller's description of the vehicle and didn't want to pay for a plane ticket to fly across the country from Baltimore to Portland just to check out a car that may not have been as advertised. So Jason used the CARCHEX inspection service for the first time. He was impressed with the service. The CARCHEX inspection of this Jaguar and inspections on other vehicles that followed prevented him from making a horrible car buying decision.
Jason quickly realized how valuable this consumer assurance and protection service could be if more people only knew they had this option to have a vehicle inspected anywhere in the country. So in April of 2003 Jason purchased the assets of CARCHEX with the purpose of making as many consumers aware that there is a company looking out for you who will protect you when you buy a car.
How We Grew
This concept of consumer advocacy during the car purchase process quickly expanded to the ownership experience. In 2004 CARCHEX added a second consumer assurance product to its business, Vehicle Service Contracts (VSC), also known as extended service protection plans. CARCHEX is now one of the largest and most trusted names in the VSC industry offering competing products direct to consumers from the top rated VSC administrators and insurers available.
CARCHEX has established itself through outstanding product offerings and customer service as the preferred extended service protection partner of some of the biggest names in automotive.
