A warranty comes with a vehicle purchase, is included in the original vehicle price, and covers specified repairs for the vehicle within a time period. Manufacturers do not provide an extension of these warranty terms. However, car dealers and companies like CARCHEX sell vehicle service contracts or Vehicle Protection plans, which are similar in nature to the manufacturer’s warranty in that they cover repair costs for specific components of the vehicle after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

With a Vehicle Protection Plan, there are thousands of repair shops you can choose from, and your covered claims are paid quickly and efficiently. Simply allow the repair facility to contact the claims administrator, and covered repairs are paid directly. The customer is only responsible for a deductible on covered repairs.

To file a claim, call TFN or submit it online before any repairs are made. Once your mechanic diagnoses the issue, they’ll contact the Claims Department to confirm coverage and receive authorization before starting repairs. After that, the repair shop will work directly with Claims and update you on the next steps.

Your VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is located in several areas and is your car’s unique identifying number. To find your VIN, check the following areas:

• The vehicle’s registration card
• The sticker inside the driver’s side door
• The driver’s side dashboard of your car
