Car Safety Accessories

There are lots of way to enhance the look of your new car, even if you bought it used. While browsing online or in your local auto supply shop, you might find plenty of ideas to spruce up your vehicle. But, taking a moment to think about safety accessories could save you lots of time, money — and maybe even your life — if you or your family ever get stranded. Here are some safety accessories all car owners should have in their vehicles at all times:

  • An emergency break-down kit: This should include a tire inflator, booster jump cables, a torch, a tow rope, heavy duty gloves, fuses, and tools such as long-nose pliers and an adjustable wrench, as well as an extendable wheel brace.
  • Emergency Hammer: This is different from a regular tool hammer. It is often made of hard-cast metal so it can easily shatter auto glass. Look for one that also has a sharp blade attached that will cut through seat belts.
  • Fire Extinguishers: Look for a product that is designed for car use and comes with clear instructions attached to it. Familiarize yourself with these steps from time to time so that you can respond automatically in case of an emergency.

Additional car safety accessories include: first aid kits, dog guards and seat-belt extensions for children. If you buy such an extension, double-check that it has been crash tested.
